Global Spotlight!! Today, we are highlighting the Global Spotlight!!

Today, we are highlighting the current state of femicide in South Africa. Intimate Partner Violence and femicide are not issues faced by Canada alone. Women around the world continue to fight for safety, freedom, and stability.

The information above reflects deeply distressing statistics/information about the violence women in South Africa are experiencing. These realities serve as a reminder that gender-based violence is a global crisis, and that our efforts to create change must extend beyond borders.

We stand in solidarity with women everywhere and hold space in our hearts for those affected by violence worldwide. The fight for safety and equality is a shared one, and together, we must continue to push for change.

Attached are some heartbreaking statistics from Ca Attached are some heartbreaking statistics from Canada.ca. It is deeply concerning that more than 11 million people in Canada have experienced intimate partner violence (a form of gender-based violence) at least once since the age of 15.

Intimate Partner Violence is a growing epidemic, and it is one we must confront together as a community. No one, regardless of race, status, ability, or identity, deserves to experience violence.

We are sharing these realities not to alarm, but to raise awareness and encourage collective action. The more we understand the scope of this issue, the stronger we become in our efforts to prevent it, support survivors, and advocate for lasting change.
Together, we can and must take a stand.

Today, we’d like to highlight one of our preventio Today, we’d like to highlight one of our prevention-based programs focused on reducing and ultimately ending Intimate Partner Violence.

Coaching Boys Into Men is a 12-week program designed for male high school athletes, promoting gender equity and supporting the development of responsible, respectful, and non-violent relationships. This year’s program is now wrapping up and has been delivered in collaboration with several high schools across Windsor and Essex County.

We are grateful to continue offering this important initiative next year and remain committed to expanding preventive efforts throughout Windsor-Essex.

How can I get involved this year? Raise awarene How can I get involved this year?

Raise awareness about violence against women and its long-term health, social and economic consequences.

Be an ally: challenge unequal gender norms, sexist behaviors and comments in your homes, communities, workplaces and with your friends, relatives and colleagues.
Support survivors with empathy, without judgment, to access services and help.
Advocate with governments and donors to finance and invest in evidence-based prevention and response. For example, the Hiatus House transitional Housing project.
Integrate response and prevention services in programs and services in development and humanitarian contexts, including health, education, social protection, law enforcement, and justice.

The "What Can I Do?" section of the #16DaysofActivism campaign serves as a resource for those who may feel intimidated by activism or believe they have no role to play. Our goal is to challenge existing ideologies and highlight areas of complicity in broken systems that may have gone unnoticed.
