Transitional Housing Fundraising Project

At Hiatus House we are committed to assisting women and their children who have experienced gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, domestic violence and or human trafficking. We provide crisis support and emergency shelter for them however that is not enough.

Transitional housing provides safe and affordable living where women and their families can live independently with their children before moving into permanent housing. This is more than just a safe place to stay. It offers women and children a variety of wrap around services which will help them adjust and lead to a better life.

We receive an average of 320 crisis calls each month. Often women and children in the shelter are discharged to homelessness as a result of the continuing need for emergency space in the existing shelter.

“Violence is a cause and consequence of homelessness” and we need to act now.

What you can do to help

We are asking for you to help us make our new transitional housing facility located at 245 Louis Avenue, across from the current shelter, a reality. This will be “A Place to Heal” that is safe, provides programs, services and helps to ensure that these women and children have an opportunity for a new start.

As a community, we are called to work together to ensure that women and their children are living violence free with a change for success through Transitional Housing.
