      Hiatus House relies on the support of volunteers for fundraising events, awareness activities and general shelter support such as wrapping gifts and organizing donations.

      Frequently Asked Questions:

      Q. Do volunteers work directly with women or children staying at Hiatus House?

      A. No. Volunteers are needed in many other supporting roles.


      Q. Are hours guaranteed?

      A. No. Most of the volunteer opportunities are in support of events that are staggered throughout the year, with a concentration from September through December.


      Q. How will I be notified of a volunteer opportunity?

      A. Our volunteer coordinator will e-mail you opportunities as they arise.


      Q. What is the process for becoming a volunteer?

      A. Once you complete the volunteer application form, our volunteer coordinator will contact you with further information and the date of our next information session. You will need to attend an information session and sign a confidentiality form before you will be offered a volunteer opportunity.
