Last Thursday, Hiatus House celebrated 50 years of service to the Windsor-Essex community during our Annual General Meeting.💗

Surrounded by supporters, community partners, volunteers, staff, past and present Board members, and friends, we gathered to reflect on our journey, honour those who helped build Hiatus House, and celebrate the impact we have made together over the past five decades.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special evening. We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community that continues to stand with us and support our work.

Today, September 30th, we wear orange in solidarity 🧡

This day honours the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools, along with their families and communities. It is a time to reflect on the tragic history and lasting impacts of residential schools, and to recognize that the process of reconciliation is ongoing.

The orange shirt has become a symbol of the loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem experienced by many Indigenous children. Wearing orange is a way to show that we remember, we stand together, and that Every Child Matters.
