Thank you for joining us for this year’s #16DaysOf Thank you for joining us for this year’s #16DaysOfActivism campaign.

As we conclude on Human Rights Day, we are reminded that women’s rights are human rights. Every woman and girl deserves to feel safe, valued, and heard in every space. Whether at home, at work, or in the community. Your commitment over these 16 days helps amplify the call for dignity, equality, and freedom from violence for all.

Together, we take steps toward a future where gender-based violence is not tolerated, survivors are supported with compassion, and every voice is respected. Change happens when communities speak up, stand together, and refuse to accept silence or injustice.

As the late UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said:

“There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women.”

Thank you for standing with us, raising awareness, and helping create meaningful, lasting change.

Be an Active Bystander! During the 16 Days of Act Be an Active Bystander!

During the 16 Days of Activism, we’re reminded that ending gender-based violence is not only the responsibility of survivors, advocates, or service providers, it is the responsibility of all of us. One of the most powerful ways we can contribute to safer communities is by being an active bystander.

Being an active bystander means noticing when something isn’t right and choosing to respond in a safe and respectful way. It means interrupting harmful behaviour, offering support to someone who may be at risk, or reaching out for help when a situation feels unsafe. Intervention doesn’t always look dramatic, it can be as simple as checking in, creating a distraction, standing beside someone, or calling for assistance.

Our actions, no matter how small, send a clear message:
violence, abuse, femicide, harassment, and disrespect against women will not be ignored.

By speaking up, stepping in, and supporting those around us, we help create communities where safety and dignity are the norm, not the exception.

During these 16 days and every day after, we all have a role to play. Together, we can change the culture, challenge harmful behaviours, and show survivors that they are not alone.

Today we’re focusing on how to recognize the signs Today we’re focusing on how to recognize the signs of IPV or GBV. Early recognition allows for early intervention, and knowing what to look for can make a meaningful difference. If any of these signs feel familiar (either personally or in someone you know) take a moment to pause, reflect, and assess the situation.

You’re not alone, and we are always here to help you navigate next steps safely and confidentially.

Gender-based violence isn’t just a “women’s proble Gender-based violence isn’t just a “women’s problem,” and the 16 Days of Activism is far from a women-only effort, because without the support and involvement of men and boys, we will never truly put an end to GBV (Fakomogbon, 2021).

This campaign is a call for everyone to take action. The link below highlights meaningful ways men can stand with women, challenge harmful norms, and help build safer communities for all.

We need your voice, your allyship, and your commitment.
