How can I get involved this year? Raise awarene How can I get involved this year?

Raise awareness about violence against women and its long-term health, social and economic consequences.

Be an ally: challenge unequal gender norms, sexist behaviors and comments in your homes, communities, workplaces and with your friends, relatives and colleagues.
Support survivors with empathy, without judgment, to access services and help.
Advocate with governments and donors to finance and invest in evidence-based prevention and response. For example, the Hiatus House transitional Housing project.
Integrate response and prevention services in programs and services in development and humanitarian contexts, including health, education, social protection, law enforcement, and justice.

The "What Can I Do?" section of the #16DaysofActivism campaign serves as a resource for those who may feel intimidated by activism or believe they have no role to play. Our goal is to challenge existing ideologies and highlight areas of complicity in broken systems that may have gone unnoticed.

The #16DaysOfActivism is a government-supported in The #16DaysOfActivism is a government-supported initiative beginning on November 25th, dedicated to raising awareness and taking action against gender-based violence.

How to Get Involved in #16DaysOfActivism:

The Government of Canada has created a sharable graphic that you can use on your social media to promote the #16DaysOfActivism campaign. Sharing this banner is a small yet impactful way to spark conversations about the significance of this movement and how we can all contribute to the cause.

Additionally, take the time to educate yourself and those around you on the importance of supporting women’s safe spaces and creating a culture of respect and safety.

On December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we remember the victims of the Polytechnique Montréal tragedy. Join in by wearing a white ribbon to honor those we’ve lost and stand in solidarity with those who continue to fight against gender-based violence.

Let’s unite for change. Together, we can make a difference.
