Friends helping friends: Local charity calls on social circles to share the joy and costs of charitable giving
Windsor Basketeers is a local volunteer organization that is asking caring people to consider filling a basket for a woman in need.
Basket Drop off Date: Saturday, November 30, 2024
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon
Where: The Safety Village 7911 Forest Glade Drive at Lauzon Parkway
Windsor Basketeers is part of a national volunteer organization that helps women in shelters by providing baskets filled with personal and household items that they need when moving to a new home. Since the launch of the Windsor chapter in 2019, 197 baskets and $6,450 worth of gift cards have been donated to Windsor’s Hiatus House—a local shelter serving victims of domestic violence.
Tragically, domestic violence continues to be on the rise. More than ever, the women who rely on Hiatus House to help them leave violent relationships and transition from the shelter to a new, safe home need to know that people care and are willing to provide the support they so desperately deserve.
Please consider filling a laundry basket or lidded storage tote with items you think a woman would need to help her start a new life. New items for kitchens, bathrooms and selfcare are appreciated. Visit our webpage to learn more! http://www.basketeers.org/chapter/windsor
Partnering with friends or colleagues and working together to fill a basket is a meaningful and manageable way to help women in need! Sharing costs and spending time together will help make your efforts that much more enjoyable.
