SUMMARY:Study on Intimate Partner Violence
DESCRIPTION:The Standing Committee on Justice Policy will meet in closed session for hearings from victims or individuals who have been personally impacted by Intimate Partner Violence. \nThe Committee intends to hold hearings in Toronto at Queen’s Park or virtually on Tuesday\, January 14\, 2025; Wednesday\, January 15\, 2025; Tuesday\, January 21\, 2025; and Wednesday\, January 22\, 2025. \nParticipation is open to individuals who have been personally impacted by Intimate Partner Violence or Sexual Violence\, including victims and family members of victims\, who wish to share their experiences with the Committee. Witnesses will have 20 minutes to make a statement to the Committee in closed session. Counsellors will be available on the days the Committee is hearing statements to provide support either in person or over the phone. \nInterested people who wish to be considered to make an oral presentation are required to register by 12:00 p.m. (EST) on Monday\, January 6\, 2025.  \nThose who do not wish to make an oral presentation but wish to comment on the study may send a written submission by 5:00 p.m. (EST) on Thursday\, January 23\, 2025. \nTo register or send a written submission\, please visit the following link: ola.org/en/apply-committees. \nAn electronic version of the Bill is available on the Legislative Assembly website at ola.org.
